Creative Dance

Rooms 7 and 8 have been learning about dance. In groups of 4 we had to create a dance that had different levels (high, medium, low) and we had to add movements including push and pull, twist, on, under, through and around.

Air Resistance

On Thursday we learnt about air resistance and the effect it has on speed. Check out our video to see  what we found out!

Grandparents day

On Friday we had grandparents day! it was really great sharing our learning with our grandparents. As part of the special day we wrote character descriptions about one of our grandparents.








Science Alive

Last Monday Room 8 learnt about forces, we learnt that there are forces on the planet that help objects to move for example gravity keeps us on earth and air resistance helps an object to float depending on the area of the shape. Here are some of our photos:

This week in Room 8

Well done to Ben, who gained his orange tip grading this week in martial arts.




This week we also had a visit from Mitchell's youngest sister Lexi who is nearly 4 weeks old. She is very cute and little! We all know that Mitchell will be an amazing big brother!



Next week we will be having a visitor from the University of Canterbury who will be teaching us some drama and we are all looking forward to practising using respect with our guest. Don't forget to check out our inquiry links to see what our inquiry topic this term is.

Respect

This week Room 8 has been focussing on the value respect and what it means at Kaiapoi North School. We decided that it is looking after school equipment, listening carefully to others and picking up after ourselves. Over the next two weeks we will be doing dance and drama in the afternoons.  Watch this space to check out our amazing dancing and drama!

Celebrating Hobbies

Over the past few weeks we have had a lot of successful students in Room 8 who have earned an award for their commitment to their out of school activities.  A big congratulations to all of those students who do activities out of school!

Room 8 is very proud of all of the achievements and efforts of all those who do activities out of school.

Amazing flying machines

In Room 8 we have been learning about flight. Over the last two weeks we have been using our knowledge about flight to create a flying machine that would carry an egg from the junior playground to the ground safely. We thought about all of the flying machines we had already made and combined the best of some of them to create our machines. Check out our designs!

Gymnastic Photos

Today Room 8 went to the school of Gym in Rangiora. We learnt how to jump on a trampoline, walk along a beam, swing around a bar and climb a wall. Check out some of our photos!


















Talent in Room 8

Not only did Eamon get the player of the year but Oakley won the most improved player for U7 ripper rugby. Ka mau wehi Oakley!!!

Trip to Wigram Airforce Museum

Today we went to the Airforce Museum to learn more about our inquiry topic flight. We learnt how important air is for flying and we also got to explore the museum. One of our favourite things to do was jumping out of the plane. We would like to thank all of the parents who helped us today. Here are some of our photos.

Today Room 8 shared their Te Reo Maori learning in assembly today. Check out our amazing learning!

Maori Language Week

This week is Maori language week. We are celebrating the maori language and in Room 8 we are learning how to count to 20 in maori. We are also learning a new waitata (song) that we will be singing in assembly this week. Check out the maori language week link to see how you can support your child at home.

Last week was science week and Room 8 got to think like scientists and ask lots of questions about the reactions that happened in our science experiments.

Police Car










Today Jakes Pop came to visit Room 8. He is a constable and he brought his police car. He showed us how to turn on the siren, and where the radio is. He also put the lights on they flashed red and blue. We also got to pretend that we were driving the car. Check out some of our photos.....
