Clay Creations

On Tuesday Room 8 learnt how to use clay to create face portraits of ourselves. First we had to think about where to put our eyes. Then we put on our mouth, nose and ears. Finally we put our hair on. Check out our  clay creation slide show!

Rooms 7 and 8 at Ferrymead

Today we went to Ferrymead to learn more about our inquiry "Past, Present and Beyond". We learnt a little about entertainment in the 1960s,  home technology and school life. It was really fun sitting in a theatre and watching some movies and we also enjoyed dressing up and dancing.

Check out some of our photos of our learning

Friday

Week 2

What a busy second week! We have been doing lots of fun learning. At maths time we learnt that a pattern needs to repeat itself and it can have symmetry. We also had fun with Mrs Osgood learning about music. Next week we will be going to Ferrymead and Room 8 is sharing a class item at assembly. We would love to see some of our family there!!!

Week One What an adventure

Wow, what a fantastic first two days at school. Room 8 has been learning how we show the school Values and Beliefs. We have also learnt about repeating patterns, and why we celebrate Waitangi day. Today Room 8 made their own treaty and wove a mat to place the treaty on, you can come into our class to see our fantastic weaving. Here is what we decided to have in our treaty.

In Room 8 we always know we learn best when we live the Values in Beliefs.
We show Respect by putting our hands up.
We show Responsibility by looking after others
We show Community by putting things away.
We show Arohanui by helping other people.
We show Quality by doing our best work.
We show Opportunity by being brave and trying new things.

Don't forget that assembly is at 9am each week this term. Have a fantastic long weekend.
